The Head of Equality Strategy is responsible for implementing a service-wide equality strategy, a strategy that will allow the Citizens Advice service to become an even stronger equality champion. This is a unique role, looking both outside and inside the organisation, with a focus on driving a dual track approach to equality, diversity and inclusion. With a need to also shape policy and provide local Citizens Advice Bureaux with guidance that reflects their commitment to equality, our brief was to find an individual with sound knowledge of equality and human rights issues, and the ability to influence public policy.
We attracted a range of candidates from the legal field, the not-for-profit and public sectors, including those with substantial equality and inclusion experience. Nearly 100 applications were received, and after our selection process, 7 were selected for interview by Citizens Advice.
The appointed candidate is an experienced leader who has held a diverse portfolio of senior strategic and operational positions across the public, private and voluntary sectors. He is Chair of the Equality, Diversity and Human Rights Panel at a national governing body for leadership. He brings with him substantial equality and diversity experience, both within his employment and as a Board member.
