Goodenough College is the principal residential centre in London for international post-graduate students, serving every academic and professional institution in the capital. As well as providing accommodation, the College offers a vibrant extra-curricular programme of seminars and conferences, together with a wealth of cultural, social and sporting activities. Committed to the traditional values of a university and with a strong ethos of tolerance and service, the College aims to promote international understanding and goodwill amongst its diverse student membership.
Our challenge was to recruit a professional fundraiser with a proven track record, a strong affinity for academic excellence and a passion for global education, who had the ability to lead the College’s major donor programme, build on the initial fundraising in place and direct the organisation’s communications function.
Goodenough College appointed Shona Nicholson, Deputy Director of Development from Wadham College, Oxford. Shona had worked as a fundraiser for over twenty-five years, including establishing her own consultancy firm. With experience gained working across Canada, the US and UK, including for the University of Oxford, working with the University’s 38 colleges, Shona was exceptionally well placed to understand and leverage the Colleges’ international reach.
