Founded in 2002, Greenhouse develops social, thinking, emotional and physical skills for young people in London’s most disadvantaged communities through the provision of high quality, intensive sports programmes, delivered by inspirational coaches.
To support the charity’s continued growth and excellence in delivery, the CEO and Board wanted to build the senior leadership team’s capacity by appointing a high performing Chief Operating Officer.
Kate Burt was appointed in April 2014, joining from British Rowing where, as Chief Executive Officer, she built on their great legacy as the UK’s most successful Olympic sport.
Kate has twenty years of extensive and varied experience within the beyond profit sector, most notably with The Prince’s Trust as their Head of Fundraising. During her time there she developed and launched a number of new initiatives, including the “Sports United” partnership which brought together key organisations in cricket, rugby and football using the power of sport. Following this she continued to build the impact of sport across the developing world as Vice President of Global Business Development at Right to Play.
