It was a very exciting time for Make-A-Wish. They had been selected to be Charity Partner for ITV’s 2015 Text Santa appeal (giving them an opportunity to almost double their income) and more families were applying for a wish than ever before. With Christmas fast approaching, the newly appointed Chief Executive was seeking to recruit four new Directors within nine weeks to quickly establish a leadership team capable of harnessing these opportunities.
Prospectus was appointed following a competitive process. We were chosen because of our motivation and commitment to delivering a quality process within a tight timescale and because of the significant team resource we were able to put behind the campaign.
Although the brief for each role was very different, the common requirement was experience of successfully leading and implementing change, a genuine empathy and commitment to the cause and an ability to balance strategic thinking with the practical requirements of the role.
We developed a microsite to anchor the campaign and to host information on the roles. It also acted as a channel to communicate the mission, strategy and values. Being able to give this background detail was particularly helpful in ensuring potential candidates had an understanding of why there was a significant change to the senior leadership.
As a result of our advertising and search, we attracted a high volume of applications (450 in total). Critically we were able to work closely with the Chief Executive as we conducted an intensive interview process within a few weeks.
By January 2016 all four directors had been appointed, and, because there were a number of talented candidates to choose from, two further positions were also recruited – an Interim Director of Operations and a European Director of Corporate Partnerships for Make-A-Wish International.
“I’ve really enjoyed working with Prospectus throughout this process. They were an outstanding search partner, able to deliver a quality process within a tight timescale.”
