Our Frontline team provide permanent, contract and temporary recruitment solutions to a wide range of charities across the health, social care and associated sectors. At Your Place, we are a small to medium size charity with big ambitions, that are only possible because of the people who work in our teams. With this in mind, we undertook an external review of our recruitment practices in 2021 which included the way we work with our recruitment partners and finding partners who matched our commitments to being purpose focused and to diversity and inclusion (D&I). Teresa became our main point of contact and has helped us to ensure we can focus on the relationship between our organisations, lead on certain campaigns in homelessness which she is a specialist in and to also offer us insights into the job market more broadly as we discuss some of our challenges and recruitment support needs.

Ever since then we have had a very collaborative, pragmatic and supportive relationship with Prospectus and have had the chance to work with their frontline recruitment team, fundraising team, central team, and most recently their executive search team. They have all received positive feedback from our hiring managers and People team which is due to their approach to their approaches to understanding our needs, and giving us some honest feedback, as they look for the best talent for us. Our partnership has gone from strength to strength, even in the most difficult economic times, and the team at Prospectus have helped us find 53 new team members to date, including 32 temporary agency workers with us. A key moment that put our partnership to the test was working with Prospectus to help us be ready for the new rough sleeping services we going to be delivering in Newham from 1 September 2021. We entered this partnership to help increase our involvement in helping end homelessness one person at a time in east London. We needed to have a full team ready to deliver from day one and the team at Prospectus work tirelessly behind the scenes helping to pull the teams together. We did it and couldn’t have made it possible without their support. Our relationship since then and going forward has had more of a strategic approach which has been very valuable given the current inflation and cost of living challenges that are impacting the job market. The team at Prospectus are also more visible to our teams which we love, Teresa, Ella and Ian have made the time to come visit our services to get to really see what it is like to work on the frontline of homelessness services in east London. We have plans for them to come see us again and look forward to more of the team seeing the direct impact of their placement, which ultimately help us achieve our mission at Your Place. I have only worked with Prospectus once, but in my opinion they are the best recruitment agency in this sector. Having achieved a Criminology degree in 2021, I registered with an abundance of recruitment agencies specialising in the non-profit sector with the hope to gain employment or experience in front line roles.

Despite chasing up people once registering my interest with many agencies, I disappointingly never even heard back from anyone, let alone have a conversation about my interests. Prospectus was the silver lining in what felt like a never ending cycle of no one reaching out and not being able to pursue a career or gain experience in what I am most passionate about – helping people who are currently in, have been in or have experienced with the Criminal Justice System.
