Enter the Charity Governance Awards 2024 and win £5,000 for your charity

The Charity Governance Awards 2024 are now open for entries. We believe good governance should be celebrated, and are delighted to be partners again.

These awards recognise and reward UK charities achieving great governance. They shine a light on the Trustees and the Charity Boards that make change possible day after day, showcasing the stories that demonstrate how effective governance can transform lives.

This year, the awards have six categories intended to showcase the work trustees do to help charities respond to emerging challenges and fulfil their missions. For 2024, there is a new category focused on celebrating ‘People in Governance’ and the practices and policies responsible for creating a culture of excellence across a charity and its stakeholders. The six categories are:

  • Board Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
  • Transforming with Digital
  • From Systemic Challenge to Meaningful Change
  • People in Governance
  • Improving Impact in Small Charities (0-3 paid staff)
  • Improving Impact in Small Charities (4-30 paid staff)

The awards are free to enter and are open to all registered charities in the UK, large or small. The most outstanding entry in each category will receive a £5,000 cash prize (as an unrestricted grant) with runners-up receiving £1,000. In addition, all shortlisted charities will receive a one-year membership to the Association of Chairs and the chance to send a new member of their board on the Trustee Leadership Programme from Cause4.

Our goal is to reward good governance and create opportunities for learning and improvement across the third sector!

How to enter

Entering the awards is free and easy to do. Submit your entry online by 6 February 2024.

Shortlisted charities are announced in April 2024, and shortlisted charities will receive complimentary invitations to the exclusive awards ceremony in central London on 30 May 2024, where the winners are announced.

The Charity Governance Awards are organised by The Clothworkers’ Company – a City Livery company that supports trusteeship initiatives – in partnership with charity consultancy NPC (New Philanthropy Capital), charity recruitment specialists Prospectus and volunteer-matching charity Reach Volunteering.
